As we wrap up the year, we’re looking back at some of our favorite new family-friendly openings of 2025—and Houston seriously delivered. From immersive games and creative play cafés to next-level playgrounds and museums, we had the chance to visit all of these spots ourselves, and each one quickly earned a place on our must-visit list.

Best New Things To Do in Houston for Kids in 2025
Beat The Bomb — Greater Fifth Ward
Beat The Bomb brought an entirely new kind of family entertainment to Houston in 2025. This immersive gaming experience places teams of 4–6 players inside a real-life video game, where you crack codes, dodge lasers, and race to disarm a bomb before time runs out. The high-energy finale (paint, foam, or slime included if you don’t succeed) makes it unforgettable. It’s a great option for families with older kids—players must be at least 8 years old. Just Kidding Play Café — Webster
Just Kidding Play Café opened in Southeast Houston and quickly became a go-to spot for parents of young kids. This cozy, mom-owned café lets parents enjoy locally sourced coffee and light bites while watching their children play. The play space is designed for ages 0–6, with older siblings welcome to help. Weekly classes include baby sign language, Spanish, art, and music and movement, and the space is also available for parties. Capacity is limited, so booking ahead is recommended. Bridgestone MUD Park — Spring
Bridgestone MUD Park is one of the most impressive playgrounds to open this year. Designed for all ages and abilities, it features a three-story play structure with slides and climbing obstacles, swings, splash pad, merry-go-rounds, a putting green, and more. Families will appreciate the bathrooms, covered seating, dog park, fitness equipment, and long park hours. You can see just how expansive and inclusive this park is in our video here.
Toddler Towns at Houston Farmers Market — The Heights
Toddler Towns expanded in 2025 with a permanent location at the Houston Farmers Market in the Heights. Designed for children under 43 inches, this soft-play space includes ball pits, crawl tubes, tunnel mazes, and slides, all in a safe and contained environment. Thoughtful sensory-friendly features like sensory pods, noise-canceling headphones, and sensory chairs make it especially welcoming. Parents can grab a coffee or snack nearby, and a party room is available for celebrations. Check out a walk-through of our visit!
Taroko Sports — Katy
Taroko Sports made its U.S. debut in Katy in 2025, bringing high-tech baseball entertainment to the Houston area. Originally from Taiwan, this venue features state-of-the-art batting cages with HitTrax technology, a pitching mound, and additional activities like arcade games, electronic darts, and miniature bowling. There’s also an on-site restaurant with classic game-day food, and all batting and pitching equipment is provided. Our video shows why this spot is fun for both serious players and casual visitors.

Camden Park — Westchase
Camden Park redefines what a neighborhood playground can be. Designed for all ages, the space includes a performance pavilion, live music area, fitness zone, dog park, and an on-site café (Sunday Press). Families will find covered seating, bathrooms, free WiFi, and easy access to the Robinson-Westchase Library next door. The park also offers free programming for kids and adults throughout the week. Urban Air Heights — The Heights
Urban Air Heights became a major addition to Houston family fun in 2025 as the largest Urban Air in the area and the first located inside the loop. It’s home to Urban Air’s longest indoor go-kart track in the nation, along with trampolines, ropes courses, climbing walls, Sky Rider, and more. A full-service café makes it easy to spend several hours here. Our video shows the scale of this location and its standout attractions.

Houston Maritime Center & Museum — East River
The Houston Maritime Center & Museum reopened in 2025 and is a great addition to the city’s museum scene. While smaller in size, the museum is well-designed and offers engaging exhibits about Houston’s maritime history. Kids will enjoy the play area and scavenger hunt, and the museum hosts family-friendly events throughout the year. Plan about an hour for your visit. HyperKidz Westchase — Westchase
HyperKidz Westchase opened as one of Houston’s newest indoor playgrounds, offering 18,000 square feet of play space. Designed for kids ages 0–13, it features multi-level play structures, slides, dedicated toddler and baby zones, and party rooms. Unlimited play is included with admission, parents are always free, and families can wear their own socks. Check out how much there is to explore inside.
Balloon Museum: Pop Air — EaDo
The Balloon Museum’s Pop Air exhibit opened in EaDo in 2025 and quickly became one of the most talked-about experiences of the year. Featuring large-scale, interactive installations by global artists, the exhibit explores the art of air in playful and imaginative ways. Kids rated this experience highly, and the full visit takes about 1.5 hours. A VR finale is available and recommended for ages 9 and up. Our video captures the immersive and whimsical nature of the exhibit. This Museum is only in Houston for a short time, check it out before it floats away April 19th.
Play Street Museum West U
Play Street Museum West U quickly became a favorite among the new kid-friendly spaces that opened this year. This indoor playspace in Houston is thoughtfully designed for toddlers and young children, with an outdoors-inspired theme that encourages imaginative play and hands-on, play-based learning—without having to brave Houston’s unpredictable weather. Designed for kids up to age 8, Play Street Museum West U feels both intentional and charming, with cozy nature vibes woven into every play area.
