Halloween events can be magical in Los Angeles. Neighborhoods go over-the-top with decorations, which shouldn't be a surprise since this is home to Hollywood, after all, and that means we know a thing or two about costumes. But the littlest trick-or-treaters are often overwhelmed by some of the most common Halloween elements: darkness, scary faces, and things that go bump in the night. With that in mind, these Halloween outings are perfect for preschoolers, delivering just the right atmosphere for your pint-size "ghouls" and "boos."

For some hauntingly good, money-saving deals, check out these free Halloween events in Los Angeles, see the best spots to go trick-or-treating in Los Angeles, and find more spooky activities in our Halloween Fun and Activities Guide for Los Angeles & Orange County Kids.

NEW American Girl Store Opens in Los Angeles

Submitted by Kylie Williams on Fri, 09/22/2023 - 2:15am

Step into an "a-doll-able" store experience.

American Girl dolls bring back fond memories, and the new American Girl Store in Westfield Century City resurfaces those memories even more. The difference was that I got to create new memories with my two-year-old daughter as we had the sweetest day getting dolled up at the American Girl store.

As a millennial mom, I remember adjusting Molly's glasses on her face, and dressing her in her finest plaid outfit. I remember cozying up in our red living room chair with an American Girl book in one hand and Molly in the other. From manicures to books, keep reading below for what you can expect at the new two-level American Girl Store in Los Angeles.

The American Girl Store is just the start of the fun at the Westfield Century Mall. Check out why the Westfield Century City is the best mall for kids in LA.

Everything at the Cayton has been carefully crafted with one goal in mind: to help create a better world through the power of play.

If you haven’t been to the Cayton Children's Museum in Downtown Santa Monica–or haven’t visited the newly reimagined and rebuilt space since it was the beloved Zimmer–this children’s museum needs to be at the top of your LA Bucket List.

The 21,000-square-foot space dedicated to discovery-based learning, arts and cultural activities, and values-based exploration is both wildly fun and incredibly educational. My four children–ages 7 months to 7 years–and I recently had the opportunity to visit the beautiful one-of-a-kind nonprofit, and we were wowed by each and every exhibit we explored! Here is our exhaustive guide to everything you need to know about visiting the Cayton Children’s Museum.

LA's Best Gymnastics Classes and Tumbling Classes for Kids Who Love To Bounce

Submitted by Kylie Williams on Sun, 08/13/2023 - 7:15am

Flip into gymnastics fun! Photo courtesy of Fun & Fit Gymnastic Centers

Gymnastics classes in Los Angeles allow kids to get all that energy out and bounce off the walls and the floor. Some kids want to be the next big Olympic tumbler; others need a padded space to run and maybe figure out a somersault.

My toddlers love a good, colorful gymnastics space. The foam pits, trampolines, giant mats, and balance beams are the perfect way to gain body awareness, learn listening skills, and maintain balance. If you are looking for gymnastics classes that are child-centered, non-competitive, and possibly closer to home, one of these kids' gyms may be just your speed.

Classes keep the kiddos entertained while learning and honing new skills, so in addition to gymnastics classes, sign them up for sports classes in Los Angeles and LA's best dance classes. Find even more class ideas in our Classes Guide for Los Angeles Kids.
