Join the Youth Environmental Club — a new Danbury Library series.

Led by Liam Barreto, a 5th grader at the Academy for International Studies (AIS) in Danbury with a passion for science, history, and the environment, this first session explores what “pollution” means and how it affects our planet. Kids will conduct an Oil Spill Simulation, learning how difficult cleanup can be—and why prevention matters most.

Youth Environmental Club is inviting youth members, of the community (ages 8-12) to have meaningful conversations and experiments about environmental issues in our world and local community. Through five sessions spanning winter 2025 to spring 2026, participants will ignite an environmental conscience and start helping solve real problems. Participants should attend 3 of the 5 workshops to receive a participation certificate delivered by April 16th, 2026.

Registration recommended but not required. For ages 7-10

Future workshops dates:

January 15, 2026 - Protecting Native Animals: Safe Wildlife Crossings

February 19, 2025 -Harmful Trades that Impact Animals: Art for Awareness

March 19, 2025 - Helping Our Ecosystems: What Can We Do at Home?

April 16, 2025 - Local Ecosystems with Chris Evers (Animal Embassy) & Celebration
