Me

I've been fascinated to learn how the brain's executive function challenges many kids in school and at home.

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one.

A wonderful story with great illustrations and an environmental message that's not preachy or scary.

A message of true love. Digital ID: 1588522. New York Public Library

The other day we posted our Vintage Valentine craft idea. Well, we just discovered the New York Public Library has a huge collection of Vintage Valentine artwork.

Browse the online galleries of vintage valentines from the Picture Collection of the Mid-Manhattan Library. Get inspiration to create your own valentine, buy a print of your favorite, or just enjoy these colorful and charming cards, part of a treasure trove of holiday postcards from the Picture Collection, a renowned resource for designers of all stripes.

My daughter likes to just print and use them as reference for drawing her own cards. They are so beautiful and lovely. Do you have your own Valentine craft activity either using vintage Valentines or not to share? Leave a comment and inspire us all!

Submitted by Azul on February 10, 2008 - 9:27am.

I was looking for an activity for my "artist date" from the book Artists Way by Julia Cameron: we're supposed to take our "little kid artist" inside us on a weekly date... I found this posting about browsing the Valentine art on the NYPL site. It was so fun! It cheered me up and totally inspired me! I printed my favorites out and now I'm going to cut them out and share them with my family and friends. Thanks for the great idea - and the valuable digital library reference at NYPL online.
