What We're Reading

Me

I've been fascinated to learn how the brain's executive function challenges many kids in school and at home.

The Big Kid

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one.

The LIttle Kid

A wonderful story with great illustrations and an environmental message that's not preachy or scary.

Giveaway-a-Thon Day 2: Prizeapalooza

Nov 6 2007

By mommy

The response to yesterday's Via Toy Box giveaway was great and the winner of the Via Toy box is...MB Burns. Congratulations. We are all jealous! Thank you everyone who spread the word and entered the contest. And, don't fret, today I've got a slew of great prizes to giveaway.

The first prize is, I think, one of the best new baby product designs of the year. The Kaboost Chair Booster is beautiful, functional and an ingenious new solution to dining with children. It's another product that is great for families in the city because it helps apartments looking stylish and grown-up while still functioning as kid places. The Kaboost Chair Booster turns any ordinary chair into a high chair by boosting the whole chair rather than just the seat. It is also foldable and portable (and storable) other great qualities that city parents need in products. You can see my original write-up of the Kaboost Portable Chair Booster here. One lucky winner will get a free Kaboost.

But there's more...

Laughing Pizza is family music in more than one way. The pop band is actually comprised of a family (Lisa Michaelis, Billy Schlosser and their daughter Emily.) They write and perform fun tunes that are perfect for the High School Musical-loving tween and younger set. There's something riveting about watching the family perform. Perhaps it is the chemistry of a real family. They're performing at the Highline Ballroom on November 11th and one lucky winner will get a pair of tickets and a copy of their CD.

Another clever new product I have the privilege of giving away is the topless undershirt from Blush. I always had a hard time with maternity clothing. I don't know if it was resistance to having to buy a whole new wardrobe to wear for a few months or just not liking the clothes, but I always tried to stay in regular clothes as long as possible.

I would have loved these shirts which let you adapt your regular clothing to work with your new belly. They also help nursing moms by covering the back and tummy when the shirt needs to get opened and there's absolutely no reason why these wouldn't be great for non-pregnant women too. Let's face it, it can be hard to find long enough shirts sometimes and I know I'm guilty of showing my crack/muffin top to more people than really deserved it. I'm giving three of these away. Winners get to pick their sizes and styles from the many available.

To win any of today's prizes all you have to do is tell at least one friend about Mommy Poppins by emailing this post to a friend or your favorite parenting group and then leave a response below. The five lucky winners will be picked randomly. I'm sorry, I can't do separate drawings for each prize so you'll get what you get, but feel free to comment on the prizes you love the best and hopefully it will work out.

Standard Giveaway Guidelines:

  • To enter you must leave a comment on this post.
  • Deadline is Midnight, Tuesday, November 6th.
  • One entry per person please.
  • Anonymous comments can not be counted.

Don’t miss out on all the excitement. If you’re not already a subscriber, subscribe via RSS or email to Mommy Poppins now. If you are new to the site check out some of the great posts in the excursions category.

I love the topless shirt. I passed it along to my pregnant friends. The chair booster is such a great idea. My three year old will not use a booster seat because it is not a "big kid" seat, so this is perfect.

All great prizes. My 15

Submitted by Helwa S. on November 6, 2007 - 8:05pm.

All great prizes. My 15 daughter could sit at our kitchen table, which is more of a bar table, so it is pretty high even for high chairs.

And, as embarassing as it may be, I must admit that I have similar maternity tops called bella bands, and now 15 months after my daughter was born, I still use them! They are great during pregnancy and after!
