What We're Reading

Me
200908230839.jpg

I've been fascinated to learn how the brain's executive function challenges many kids in school and at home.

The Big Kid
200908230840.jpg

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one.

The LIttle Kid
200908230836.jpg

A wonderful story with great illustrations and an environmental message that's not preachy or scary.

Free tickets to a one-stop summer planning event

picture-13.pngI know what you did last summer? Big whoop, so does the whole world??”I'm a blogger. The real horror movie is about planning for next summer. I'm already in a cold sweat over trying to figure out what to do with my kids, my childcare...and if I have to have one more circular, non-committal conversation about what we could, should or might possibly-maybe do for our family vacation, I think I will scream.

So before the blood starts flying, I'm going to attend The Busy Mom??™s One-Stop Summer Planning Luncheon and Expo hosted by Executive Moms next Wednesday, March 5th. There's a lot of cool things going on with this event (including a chance to win some big prizes), so bear with me here.

This summer planning event has been created for moms of tots to tween. Part buffet luncheon, part social networking opportunity; part program, part mini-expo...you'll have a chance to talk to experts on childcare, camps, and vacation planners, plus representatives on kids activities, vacation and travel companies, babyproofers, medspa services, real estate, great gear for the kids, and more. And you can do it all on your lunch break??”talk about multi-tasking.

In addition to all that, you're promised a delicious buffet lunch at The Harmonie Club and a deluxe gift bag. If that's not enough to pique your interest, how about the added incentive that if you register by Thursday, February 29 you'll be entered to win one of two amazing vacation prizes: a getaway to luxurious Rancho Las Palmas and a Girls Getaway to an all-inclusive BEACHES Resort! (Mention ???Mommypoppins??? in your RSVP and they will give you an EXTRA chance to win)!

To top it all off, Executive Moms is offering Mommy Poppins readers a chance to win free tickets to this event. Just leave a comment below. We will be picking multiple winners so don't be shy. This is going to be a one-day giveaway because I want everyone to have a chance to register for the event by Thursday, in time to be entered in the Vacation Giveaway raffle, so comments must be left on this post by Wednesday, February 28th at midnight in order to be considered .

The Busy Mom??™s One-Stop Summer Planning Luncheon and Expo
Wednesday, March 5th 2008
The Harmonie Club
4 East 60th Street
12:00 to 2:00

To learn more and RSVP now and put an end to your summer planning horror, visit executivemoms.com. To find out more about Executive Moms, support and networking group, visit their website.

And remember, whatever you do this summer, never go skinny dipping. That always gets you killed.

I have been able to find great things to do with my daughter and stepson as a result of this site. It has also given me the heads up on SO many things...such as the fact that you basically have to register for summer camp while the ground is still cold!
