Free Range Moms, Bedbugs Ride Subway, Toddlers in Heels
Just cause the last time you sat down to read a newspaper was when ???pooped out??? still meant tired to you doesn??™t mean you can??™t stay up to date with what??™s going on. We??™ve rounded up the top stories you don??™t want to miss from the NYC media this week.
Also, don't forget that you have until 11pm tonight to enter into our last Mother's Day Giveaway, an amazing portrait photography session.
Are you a helicopter mom or a free-range mom? NY Times reports on online programs that allow parents to track their kids daily progress in school for the ultimate helicopter move, while Lenore Skenazy of letting her 9 year old ride the subway alone fame grapples with other peoples' perceptions of the free range moms on her blog Free Range Kids.
Bedbugs on the B? Actually Lenore, maybe the only thing we need to be worried about on the subway is bedbugs. Sorry to pass this on but apparently you can catch bedbugs riding subway.
Toddlers in Heels. New York Magazine reports on Beyonce's new line of kids clothes that has to be seen to be believed. Unfortunately as Gawker points out, taking racy pictures of underaged girls seems to be the fashion of the moment, so Beyonc?© is just staying on the cutting edge. Check out either site for photos.
The Mother of Mother's Day. Listen to this story on NPR about the Founder of Mother's Day who, by the way, never had children and would have been opposed to the commercialization of the day... um, I'm a little torn on this one, on the one hand I agree, and on the other hand is the really nice bag I got today.

I dont know if its because
I dont know if its because its a rainy monday and im overtired/overemotional, but im really disturbed by beyonce's clothing(ads) and the mother who let their child get home alone. imagine the combination of putting one of those girls in the ad alone on the subway (even if they were older than 9)?! i know that i cant be as overprotective as i want to be, but it is my job to keep my baby as safe as possible for as long as possible. and when he rides the subway alone with a cell phone and lojac, i will be trailing him.
