This summer, London artist Chris Long is celebrating childhood with This is Fun, a solo show at gallery hanahou featuring his new original works of children in their natural environments. With bright acrylics, Chris captures the exuberant feelings of children when adults have stepped out of the picture and kids are free to be themselves. Start: 3:00 am

Travel to the Himalayas by exploring art . . . Inspired by the museum's collection, children produce their own interpretations of Himalayan artwork ranging from collage paintings of mythical hybrid creatures to traditional patterning, creatively arrange landscape paintings on a magnetic wall, and explore inside the Himalayan Treasure Chest (containing Himalayan costumes and toys perfect for dress-up) all while listening to Himalayan music. THE YAK PACKERS is for kids ages 2 to 5 (accompanied by an adult); the program meets in the studio. TICKET INFO RMA Family Programs are free with Museum admission, and to Cool Culture Members. A $5 contribution per family is welcome, and participant children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration by phone is recommended at least one business day prior to the program. Admission to RMA is $10.00 for adults; $7.00 for seniors, students and artists (with ID); $7.00 for neighbors (zip codes 10011 & 10001 with ID); and free for children under 12 and for museum members. Gallery admission is free to all on Fridays between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. GENERAL INFO Opened in 2004, the Rubin Museum of Art (RMA) houses an esteemed and wide-ranging collection of Himalayan art; the paintings, pictorial textiles, and sculptures are drawn from cultures that touch upon the 1,800 mile arc of mountains. With changing exhibitions and exciting events, RMA allows people of all ages and backgrounds to discover art from the far-away Himalayas conveniently in Chelsea. The museum is open Monday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed on Tuesday. To reach the museum by subway, visitors may take the A, C or E to 14th Street; the 1 to 14th Street; or the L to 6th Avenue.
