Macy's Fishing Contest Sunday, Jul 20, 2008 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Brooklyn Join a great Brooklyn tradition: Prospect Park's annual fishing contest! July 16-20, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Audubon Center The R.H. Macy’s Fishing Contest has been an annual event in Prospect Park since 1947. A rite of passage for tens of thousands of Brooklyn kids over the years, the contest runs for a week each July and is held lakeside near the Prospect Park Audubon Center at the Boathouse. The event is open to kids 15 years old or under. Equipment is provided free of charge or participants can bring their own. All fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis; fish must be returned to the Lake alive. Registration Contest open to ages 15 and under. All groups of 10 or more must call (718) 287-3400 x114 to register in advance. Individuals can just show up and register - or call (718) 287-3400 x114 for more information. City Parks Foundation and The Joyce Theater present a week of free dance in celebration of the theater's 25th anniversary. The three selected dance pieces range from an improvised solo inspired by parks settings to a duet between man and machine to dance aerobatics performed with a 20-foot vertical pipe.
