Explore the Himalayas at your own pace . . .

Learners of any age are welcome to stop in and use their imagination at the RMA's Garuda Open Studio.  Play Asian games (like with the abacus), make art inspired by a gallery visit (such as your own mandala), dress up in colorful Himalayan costumes and scarves, and read in the Story Corner stocked with more than 100 Asian tales, including Jataka Tales (Buddhist parables), and I Once Was a Monkey.

Start: 3:00 am
End: 5:00 am

Can you move like a painting?

Making art more interactive for a younger audience, this program encourages understanding of art through interpretative movement.  Guided by RMA educators, children will transform the artworks they encounter into poses, movement, and sound.

Moving Through Art is for kids ages 3-5 (accompanied by an adult).  Participants should bring their own thin, yoga-style mat; the program meets in the theater.

Start: 10:00 am
End: 4:00 pm

The event is open to kids 15 years old or under. Equipment is provided free of charge or participants can bring their own. All fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis; fish must be returned to the Lake alive.

Registration Contest open to ages 15 and under. All groups of 10 or more must call (718) 287-3400 x114 to register in advance. Individuals can just show up and register - or call (718) 287-3400 x114 for more information.
